I will always be infinitely grateful I chose Emeline to be my doula. She has a lovely energy and was incredibly friendly, kind and warm from the very first time I met her. I felt very comfortable in her presence and liked her immediately; I had no doubt that I wanted her to be my side for the birth of my baby. I also felt that Emeline’s positive, steady, nurturing manner would be a huge support during my labour and I was right; she was my anchor in the delivery room and helped me through a very speedy, natural birth, keeping me mentally focused and physically empowered every step of the way. Furthermore, she was my advocate, I trusted her, and she made sure I understood what the nurses and doctors were doing so that I felt informed, but could also relax and remain focused on my labour. (This was especially reassuring for my husband and I at a time when Covid restrictions had impacted hospital regulations and procedures). But another wonderful thing about Emeline is that she doesn’t stop taking care of you once the baby arrives. Her services in the month after the birth of my daughter, which included baby massage, aromatherapy oils for mum and baby, breastfeeding wisdom and present and empathetic listening, were just as valuable as her calm and grounded presence during the birth itself. She was a tower of support when it came to breastfeeding; the first few weeks were challenging and Emeline’s constant encouragement and guidance gave me confidence in myself and ensured it was a successful, positive experience for me and my baby. She was always there at the end of the phone when I needed her post-birth and would visit whenever I asked; she was so generous with her time and advice.
I would always want Emeline by my side if I had another baby, and I love thinking of her bringing other babies into this world because she has so much joy and passion for what she does. In my view, everyone should have a doula when they give birth and choosing Emeline to be mine was hands-down the best decision my husband and I made. I had an amazing birth experience, it wouldn’t have been the same without her and I cannot thank her enough.

I’m so grateful to have reached out to Emeline to be my post-partum doula.  As a new Mum, I was overwhelmed to suddenly be in charge of a new life, my baby boy.  She entered our lives and taught me how to handle the baby; how to bathe him, soothe him, give him a baby massage, and breastfeed him. She also helped me with post-partum yoga for myself. Most importantly, she said I was enough, I had all the abilities as a mother to look after my child.  So very grateful!

Emeline supported the births of both our sons and was a reassuring presence throughout. I had the natural birth that I wanted both times assisted both times by Emeline’s calming nature. She helped to take away a lot of the anxiety surrounding birth, giving just the right words of encouragement when I needed them and guided us without ever being intrusive during our special time.

I cannot imagine my birth now without Emeline! She was amazing all the way through. Being a first time mama and being so far from home and family, having Emeline there was like having family to help and guide me through every little step. We were told we needed a doula if we wanted to have a waterbirth and although it didn’t exactly go to plan, I’m so glad we had Emeline with us and I wouldn’t have it any other way. From pregnancy to afterbirth, you will never know how grateful I am for all your help, support and kindness. And to be fair, anyone putting up with the husband “birth music play list” deserves a medal!
